Hospitals

Hospitals are healthcare institutions that provide medical, surgical or psychiatric care and treatment. This sub-sector is part of the Private Healthcare sector.

Hospitals typically provide acute inpatient, specialist outpatient as well as 24-hour emergency services in medical, surgical or psychiatric care and treatment.

In Singapore, there are two main categories of hospitals:

  • Restructured Hospitals
100% Government-owned or not-for-profit institution where patients receive subsidised medical treatment.
  • Private Hospitals
Owned by private organisations where patients do not receive subsidised medical treatment (i.e. full-fee payment).
