Social enterprises will be able to tap on more grants from the ComCare Enterprise Fund (CEF) from January 2012.
The CEF, originally launched to dispense start-up money to new social enterprises, will be expanded in scope. The enhanced CEF will allow existing social enterprises with a proven track record to access additional funding so that they can grow their business.
From January 2012, there will also be a new tier of CEF funding for youth-run social enterprise projects. The S$3 million seed-funding programme is expected to benefit some 70 schools and 25 start-up projects over 3 years.
Since the CEF was launched in 2003, about S$10 million in support funding has been committed to 80 social enterprises and benefited some 1,600 Singaporeans.
