More flexible work arrangements can widen manpower pool, make jobs more attractive.
Industry players are invited to trial home-based work schemes and 'smart work' centres to help boost the feasibility of flexible working arrangements where people can work from or near home.
This call-for-collaboration (CFC) by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) follows one of the recommendations by the Tripartite Workgroup on Infocomm Technology (ICT)-enabled Home-based Jobs to increase employment opportunities.
The aim is to raise awareness and acceptance to take work closer to homes and engage some of the 258,000 people aged between 25 and 54 who are economically inactive. About 70% of them do not work because of family commitments.
The move to increase work-from-home schemes can help employers to widen their potential manpower pool, increase attraction and retention of staff as well as boost productivity.
A briefing session will be held on 10 April 2012 for industry players and employers interested in this CFC. For more information, visit www.NextGenNBN.gov.sg or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
