Singapore's manufacturing output in May 2012 expanded 6.6% on-year. Excluding biomedical manufacturing, output grew 2% on-year.
Compared on-month, output expanded 1.8% in May 2012. Excluding biomedical manufacturing, output edged up slightly 0.3% on-month.
According to the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) transport engineering led growth, expanding 35.4% on-year with all segments recording higher output.
Double digit on-year growth was also seen for biomedical manufacturing (+32.8%).
Other sectors recorded more modest on-year growth:
- Electronics: +9.7%
- Chemicals: +4.1%
- General manufacturing: +3.7%
Only precision engineering saw a 0.4% on-year dip.
