Companies in the surface engineering sector will soon have access to an integrated manufacturing facility.
The Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) announced the launch of JTC's Surface Engineering Hub (SEH) on 28 June 2012.
The S$50 million facility to be built over 1.88 hectares at Tanjong Kling will be the first shared facility for companies in the sector.
The SEH will host an integrated ecosystem of companies in the surface engineering industry, including surface finishers, equipment suppliers, chemical solution providers, and plating technology researchers.
It will have a centralised wastewater treatment plant which will reduce space requirements and operational costs of the tenants.
The facility will be ready for use in the second half of 2013. It comprises 63 units totalling 20,360 square metres.
Singapore's surface engineering industry employs over 3,000 people in about 94 companies.
