New Enhancements to Workforce Training Support (WTS) Scheme

Changes to take effect on 1 July 2013.

More lower-income Singaporeans can soon upgrade themselves through training.

The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) announced the following changes to the Workforce  Training Support (WTS) scheme:

  • income cap extended from S$1,700 to S$1,900
  • 95% subsidy for course fees and absentee payroll  
  • training allowance at S$4.50/hour for those without employer support if employees:

- achieve an attendance record of at least 75%  

- sit for all assessments

- pass the course

- are employed in a vocation which is relevant to their training

In other enhancements, full funding support will be extended to basic numeracy training courses.

The changes to WTS will take effect on 1 July 2013.
