How-to Guide: Apply For Home Office Scheme (HO)

Step-by-Step guide on applying for HO.

Before you apply

  1. Learn more about HO from URA’s website and HDB’s website.
  2. Comply with the requirements stated on the websites.

For example, the Fire Safety and Shelter Department (FSSD) requires Home Offices to comply with these requirements but no separate approval is needed:
    • Self-contained smoke detector shall be installed in the unit to cover the office area.
    • Each residential unit shall be maintained as a fire compartment at all times. There should be no opening or removal of separating walls to combine multiple units into one.
    • Suitable types of fire extinguisher (water or multi-purpose type) shall be installed within the unit to cover the office area.

Applying for HO

  1. Use the Online Business Licensing Service (OBLS) to make an online application.

OBLS also allows you to register your business and apply for licences and permits while applying for the HO scheme.

All businesses must register with the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) unless your business is exempted.

  2. Submit your application online via OBLS.
  3. Pay the S$20 administrative fee online via OBLS.

Upon successful application

  1. Authorisation will be issued immediately upon successful registration and payment receipt.
  2. Print out the approval form.
  3. Approval is granted for 5 years.
